Fig Preserves
A friend shared some fresh figs from her tree. Since I like fig preserves, I decided to turn these into jam. This is good on toast, but I especially like it as a bruschetta topping along with goat cheese.
Wash the figs, remove their stems, and cut into quarters. Put them in a small pan. For each 5 figs, add 1 tablespoons each sugar and honey. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring frequently, for 10-15 minutes. The sugars and figs should give off sufficient moisture as they cook, but add a small amount of water if they do not.
Remove from the heat, cool, and enjoy.
